Getting Your Car or Truck Prepared for Summer
Summer is fast approaching which is when the majority of people take their vacations so they can take advantage of the warmer weather. Most people choose to travel by car. It is highly recommended that if you are planning to use your car for your vacation that you check your belts and hoses for any visible signs of weakness as well as having your air conditioning unit check for Freon. It is also a good time to have your cooling system serviced, i.e. a radiator flush and fresh anti freeze put in.
Hot weather also has a tendency to make your vehicle run hotter, so you should also get your oil changed, have your tires rotated, balanced and checked for proper air pressure. Of course while you are doing this you should make sure that your tires have plenty of tread wear left. A side benefit besides safety is properly inflated tires will improve your gas mileage.
Some other things you should do is have your car tuned-up, brake pads checked for cracks and amount of pad left, brake fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid and windshield washer fluid levels checked. Summer time means plenty of bugs on your windshield and head lights which could hinder your view.
Taking the time to make sure your car is in great shape prior to your trip will go a long way in providing you a safe and happy trip. The quickest way to ruin a trip is to get stranded out in the heat somewhere.
After your successful vacation come back and wash and wax your car to get the road grime off of your paint. Once you have thoroughly cleaned your vehicle we recommend that you cover your car or truck with a cover to protect your car from the UV rays of the sun
